Blogger Spotlight

I started reading the blog, Simply Chic last year and honestly I was instantly hooked! V-Neesa has such an effortless style - whether shes rockin' a bold red pant with a bright pink top and zebra print heels or a fun multi-colored skirt with a basic tank (in the pic below) - she always looks flawless! She was even featured in the March 2011 issue of Essence Magazine! And can we just pause for a minute to discuss how gorgeously healthy her hair always looks? If you read through the many many comments on her blog, you'll see that I am not the only one in awe! My own hair was super long two years ago and I cut it all off "Halle Berry style" (big mistake!). Now I'm trying desperately to grow it out and V-Neesa has fantastic tips on her site for maintaining a healthy head of hair (she even tells you her hair routine amd what products she uses!) I often turn to her blog for great outfit inspirations, hair care tips, amazing giveaways (one recently from Tiffany & Co., hello?), and to peek at what fab new shoes she's bought! Be sure to check V-Neesa out at Simply Chic, you'll be glad you did!

1. Can you give us a mini bio. What do you do when you're not blogging?
I am a full time Integrated Marketing Communications graduate student, but not for much longer…I’m graduating in the spring!! School keeps me pretty busy, but I love being social and I love an excuse to get dressed and go out to dinners, concerts, lounges, etc., and you will always finding me planning a trip somewhere. But, as much as I love to go out, I also REALLY love me time. There’s nothing like lying in my bed catching up on my favorite shows or reading a good book.

2. Why did you decide to start a blog?
It sounds crazy, but I decided to start blogging when the name Simply Chic hit me out of nowhere. I read blogs, but never thought I could have one of my own, because my style is not particularly over the top like most of the bloggers I was following at the time. Well, that name came to me one night and I thought, well why not show that you can be simple, chic and interesting…

3. What, do you feel, makes your blog stand out from others?
Hmmm…well I think my style and my blog are both pretty relatable. A lot of what I wear can easily be duplicated with what you have in your closet, so I hope a lot of people find it inspiring. Also, I like to give you a glimpse into my life, by always saying where I wore what. I find a lot of bloggers don’t do this and I’m always questioning “where did you go wearing that”. With me there’s not questioning, I always tell you even if it’s as boring as brunch at Chevy’s or as exciting as meeting MEETING RACHEL ROY!

4. What are the top five blogs that you follow? Why?
This is in no particular order:
Zarna’s Runway - Her outfits are awesome and her photos are gorgeous!

Fashion Bananas - I first started following because a lot of stuff she posted I had in my closet and I would always get great ideas for styling.

Cupcakes & Cashmere - Full of inspiration across so many categories. You can tell she puts her heart & soul into her blog!

Jadore Fashion - She was the first black blogger that I discovered and I’ve been a loyal follower ever since.

I Am Khatu - She’s petite like me!

5. What three beauty products can you never leave the house without?
I am not really a beauty product girl, but you will always find me with OPI or Revlon on my nails, Sephora lash plumper on my lashes and a freshly washed face using Bliss Foaming Face wash.

6. What do you love most about blogging?
Besides the fact that it’s a creative outlet for me, I love reading everyone’s comments. I love getting and responding to emails with questions and compliments. I love when people, like you, want to feature me and I love that it challenges me to be more creative with what I have in my closet.

7. Other than your blog, where else can we find you (Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin', etc.)?
Find me on Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin, and Pinterest.

Thanks so much to the lovely V-Neesa!
