I am lovin' the braid trend that I see everywhere lately! On days when the heat is way too unbearable, a cool new way to beat the heat it to put your hair in cute braids. The look is popping up on the runways, on celebs and of course on street-stylish ladies. And there are so many different ways to wear the braid! You can do a messy side pony, a sleek fishtail braid...the possiblities are endless. Perfect for a laid back day at the beach or even a great alternative for a summer wedding.

2011 BET Awards Beauty Recap

So yesterday the BET Awards were held in L.A. and while there were some memorable (or ridiculous) on-stage moments of the night, I was paying close attention to the red, umm, green carpet fashions of the evening. As with any award show, there were lots of hits and lots of misses. (I will never understand how a full body leather jumpsuit in sweltering heat makes sense to any celebrity.) But I digress... While some ladies opted for outlandish ensembles to make a statement, others wore long gowns reminiscent of prom circa 1994! But makeup-wise, the pink lip trend was definitely the most popular and the ladies looked beautiful. Here are some of my faves:

I love me some Kelly Rowland and she looked fab in this pale pink lip!

ANTM beauty Toccara wowed in a sparkly green dress, pink lips and a hint of green liner-gorgeous!

The always "understated" rapper Nicki Minaj wore her signature shocking pink lip.

Miss Keri Hilson looked flawless as usual. I think I kinda love the hair...

I think Ashanti was a bit overdressed for the show, but looked beautiful and brought on the glamour!

MAC Blogger's Obsession Collection

I am SO excited about today's launch of the Bloggers' Obsession Collection by MAC Cosmetics. There was a lot of buzz and anticipation on Twitter and Facebook from true MAC heads- and it's finally here (woot woot!!). MAC chose nine bloggers to go to the headquarters in Toronto and gave them the opportunity to create a signature eyeshadow or lipglass! Le sigh...a girl can dream can't she?...

Feeling Brand New

Welcome, welcome, welcome to my new blog! I'm a beauty writer and mom to a wonderful little boy, Jordan, and I just wanted to share my loves (and obsessions, lol) with you. On this blog I'll be doing lots and lots of beauty product reviews and sharing my fashion finds (I'm an expert online shopper, if I do say so myself!) For you mommies out there, I'll also do some kiddie product reviews and loads more! So without further ado...

Last Sunday, I celebrated my belated (29th!) b-day with my mom, aunt and cousins by going wine tasting at four Long Island vineyards and we had a BLAST!! First of all, they picked us up in a limo and served us an amazing gourmet lunch. And the wines...fantastico! We sampled about four or five at each vineyard (you do the math) so by the end of the day, yea, we were pretty tipsy!

It was such a beautiful day outside, I decided to wear one of my favorite maxi dresses and could..not..wait to pair it with the new blue nail polish I bought last week! Have you heard of the brand Sinful Colors? I popped in Duane Reade (during my weekly beauty run) and bought this gorgeous blue shade, and they're only about $2 each!!! I'm usually an Essie or OPI kinda gal but the Sinful Colors really blue me away (sorry for the pun- bad huh? lol)! But seriously, the polish goes on so smoothly and lasts a good three to four days before you see a chip, I swear- I was pleasantly surprised! I'm definitely going back for more...
