Doing Laundry the Eco-Friendly Way with Roux Maison Detergent

Now that I have a newborn and a toddler, I feel like I spend 99% of my time doing endless loads and loads of laundry. But it's honestly not so bad now that I've actually found a detergent that I love! Roux Maison detergents and stain remover not only get your laundry extremely clean, they also use natural ingredients and smell amazing! You have a choice of scents: Ambrosia, Sweet Tea, and Fragrance Free. Ambrosia is composed of essential lavender oils with citrus undertones; Sweet Tea has scents from citrus oils; and Fragrance Free is...well...fragrance-free but leaves your clothes smelling so fresh and so clean.

The Roux Maison line includes: an everyday Essential Detergent ($14.99 for 16oz), a Delicate Detergent ($15.99 for 16oz), a Sport Detergent ($16.99 for 16oz), a Swimwear Detergent ($14.50 for three 1oz bottles), and a Stain Remover ($8.99 for 8oz.). And each 16 oz bottle does 40 loads of laundry! 40 loads!!

I put the Sport Detergent to the test after a grueling workout Saturday morning. I threw my dirty gym clothes in the laundry and I LOVED how good they smelled and how soft they felt afterward. I like that Roux Maison has a detergent specifically for your workout clothes. It eliminates the icky dirt, odor, and bacteria that live in your gym clothes. And it even helps maintain the elasticity of the Lycra and spandex.

Since I've become a mommy, I always try to seek out products that are safer for me to use around the house and especially safe around the kiddies. Wouldn't you rather a detergent that does all that, smells fantastic, and is eco-friendly? I sure do!!

Smell Sexy With Pacifica

In keeping with the Valentine's Day theme, I bring you the ever-so-sexy scent, Mexican Cocoa from Pacifica. The collection includes a Perfume Spray, Votive Candles, Pillar Candles, Natural Soap, Solid Perfume, and a Soy Candle. What I love about Pacifica is that the products are not tested on animals or made of any harmful chemicals. The Soy Candles have always been a favorite of mine because they always burn well and leave the room with a clean fragrance. Not like some candles that give off a chemically smell!

The Mexican Cocoa is perfect for Valentine's Day! "This passionate blend has the rich, dark scent of Mexican Chocolate at its base. Rounded out with mild notes of bitter Almond, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Vanilla, this beloved Pacifica classic is indulgent, warm, and delicious". So go ahead and spritz a little perfume and light those yummy cocoa-scented candles this Thursday for the one you love...

Manicure Monday: Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is almost here! I wanted to do a cute mani for the holiday and nothing says Valentine's like hearts of course!

You'll need a red polish, metallic polish (silver or gold look best), a bobby pin, and top coat to finish it off. It's really a lot easier than it looks. After painting your nails red, let dry and dip the tip of a bobby pin into your metallic polish and draw a small heart on your nail. I practiced a couple of times on a sheet of paper first. And if you don't have a bobby pin handy, a toothpick will work just fine too. After you've got the heart down, add top coat and voila - a simple and chic Valentin's Day mani.

The polishes used were from the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Collection: All Fired Up, Hi Ho Silver, and top coat.

{How To} Achieve the Perfect Blowout At Home!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner. (I still can't even believe it's already February!!) If you're headed out for a hot date night, who better to help you look your best than the salon experts at blow, the New York blow dry bar! Below, stylist Tiffany Chiapparelli gives us the low down on achieving a salon-worthy blowout at home.

What steps can I take to achieve a blowout at home with lots of volume?
To achieve a great blowout with lots of volume at home, I recommend using a round brush (size of your choice) and setting your hair in velcro rollers while you begin your makeup, or finish getting ready for your day or event. Then, simply remove rollers, spritz your hair with blowpro Blow Out Spray Serious Non-Stick Light Hold Hairspray. And voila, you're ready to go!

Is there a way to make my blowout last?
To make your blowout last,  section your hair at your part, twist your hair away from your face and wrap in a high bun. Be sure to secure your bun with bobby pins or hair pins, rather than a rubber band or jaw clip to ensure there are no creases created in the hair while you sleep. If you wake up with an oily scalp, I recommend using blowpro Faux Dry Dry Shampoo at the roots and gently massage in your hair before wrapping your hair for the night.

What blowpro products are essential to achieving a salon-worthy blowout at home?
The essential blowpro products to achieve a salon-worthy blowout at home would most definitely be as follows:
blowpro Heat Is On : This blend of proteins will prime and protect your hair from any form of heat styling. This is a must before you begin your blowout!
blowpro Blow Out Spray Serious Non-Stick Light Hold Hairspray :This lightweight hairspray protects your hair from humidity and locks your style into shape, without that sticky hard typical "hairspray" feeling. This product is completely brushable, and I promise you will fall in love with the scent!
blowpro Faux Dry Dry Shampoo- Who doesn't want their blowout to last for more than one day? That's why it is important to refresh your blowout with blowpro's dry shampoo, Faux Dry. This finely milled powder is perfect for all hair colors and textures. Just poof it in, massage through your scalp, and your hair will look as fresh as when you walked out of the salon!

Thanks so much to Tiffany for these great tips!!

Manicure Monday: Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color (Review and Swatches)

Shown above: Ionic Indigo, Red-y Response, Golden Conduct, Silver Elements, Kinetic Copper, Electric Emerald
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I didn't do too much - just did some laundry, cleaned the house, washed my hair- nothing very eventful, LOL. But Sunday my hubby took me out for breakfast which was nice to get out of the house for a bit while his mom watched the boys. While we were eating, I noticed he kept looking at my nails until he finally asked, "How'd you get your nails like that?!". I got really excited and started explaining to him that it's done by magnet, but have you ever tried talking beauty to a guy? No use. I mean, c'mon. His eyes glazed over and that was the end of that convo. Eh! But I'm excited to tell you about it because I had so much fun doing this manicure over the weekend.

Sally Hansen introduced their Magnetic Nail Color ($9) and since they are one of my favorite nail brands, I decided to try it out. There are 8 gorgeous shades in all and I tried "Silver Elements" below. I may be a bit late to the magnetic nail bandwagon, but I love how it came out. And (despite what my hubby says) it's pretty easy to do!

I also tried out the Maximum Strength, Maximum Growth and Salon Manicure Top Coat (my favorite top coat!)

You can find all products at drugstores and sallyhansen.com.

Have you tried the magnetic nail trend?
